Foster Care Medical Home ECHO Project
In 2016, TNAAP in partnership with the East Tennessee State Center of Excellence for Children in State Custody (COE) and with the support of BlueCare TN formed the BeHiP Learning Collaborative Pilot. This newly formed partnership will consist of participating Best Provider Network Providers, the COE psychiatrist, Department of Children’s Services Nurses, BeHiP staff, and other key professionals. This group meets monthly and uses the case-based learning method to care for children who present with behavioral health issues and are currently in foster care.
Key to the success of this collaborative is that the enrolled practices will be able to communicate with one another and learn from each other’s management of children with complicated behavioral health concerns in a consultative model with the COE. Over time, enrolled practices should develop more confidence in their ability to care for these more complicated behavioral health patients and should be able to apply their new skills to their general pediatric population, as well.
